The Rock Observation Deck at Rockefeller Center, MTV today announced the nominees for the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards. Shakira and The Red Hot Chili Peppers topped the list with seven nominations each for Hips Dont Lie and Dani California respectively. Madonnas Hung Up and Panic At The Discos, I Write Sins Not Tragedies, follow with five nods while Christina Aguilera received four nods for Aint No Other Man. It was also announced that Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, T.I., Panic At The Disco, Ludacris and The Killers are scheduled to perform on the big show. In addition, it was announced today that The Raconteurs will provide the soundtrack for the VMAs live throughout the show. Host, additional performers and presenters will be announced shortly.
